The Lift explores a familiar social moment: choosing not to hold the elevator door for someone rushing to get on, or worse, actively pressing close. The film turns that everyday act into a character-driven animated short about insensitivity, consequence, and learning to be more considerate.
Written by Rob Kohr and Kathy Lien, the film was directed and animated by Rob Kohr with a broader team contributing digital ink, color, 3D CGI, music, sound design, and voice performance. It went on to screen widely and earn awards including Best Animated Short at Royal Flush Film Festival and Best Animation honors from Real to Reel International Film Festival, Black Earth Film Festival, and Newport Beach Film Festival.
